Brooklyn Skate Garden at

Mount Prospect Park!!!

We’re proud to announce that the Brooklyn Skate Garden was officially approved with a unanimous 7–0 vote by the New York City Planning and Design Commission, along with a powerful 23–5 vote of approval from Brooklyn Community Board 8.

This marks the official NYC approval of our innovative and sustainable design.

Over the past six years, we’ve advocated for inclusivity and the creation of a shared space for skaters, families, and parkgoers alike.

We want to extend a huge thank you to the New York City leaders who have supported us from day one: Crystal Hudson, Brad Lander, and Antonio Reynoso, along with the Mayor’s Office and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. A special thank you as well to Martin Maher, Brooklyn Parks Commissioner, and The Skatepark Project for helping spearhead this initiative.

Next up is the procurement phase, which will take place over the coming months. We’re optimistic that groundbreaking and construction at Mount Prospect Park will begin in spring 2027 and continue into 2028 for our exciting designs.

We also want to thank every skate advocate who attended our events, showed up in person to meetings, wrote letters of support, signed petitions, and helped push the Brooklyn Skate Garden forward every step of the way.

This grassroots project would not be possible without every single one of you and the love this community has poured into making it happen.

What began as a single idea from a group of young skaters hoping to create a lasting impact has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined — a lasting community space built to honor the legacy and memory of Pablo Ramirez.
